There are three types of damage: slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning. Each weapon deals damage based on how it is used in directional attacks. Some weapons are more effective when used in specific ways.
Weapon Damage Types
Quick guide for weapon damage types:
Slashing damage: swords, axes, daggers, halberds
Bludgeoning damage: hammers, picks
Piercing damage: spears, daggers, bows, guisarmes
All armor provides some reduction to all types of damage, but each type of armor has a weakness.
Armor Weaknesses
Quick guide to armor weaknesses:
Light armor: Weakest to slashing damage
Medium armor: Weakest to piercing damage
Heavy armor: Weakest to bludgeoning damage
Base damage from each of the 3 types is reduced by putting points into the 3 attributes.
