Damage Types
There are three types of damage: slashing, piercing, and bludgeoning. Each weapon deals damage based on how it is used in directional attacks. Some weapons are more effective when used in specific ways.
Weapon Damage Types
Quick guide for weapon damage types:
Slashing damage: swords, axes, daggers, halberds, bardiches
Bludgeoning damage: hammers, picks
Piercing damage: spears, daggers, bows, guisarmes
Damage received from each of the 3 types is reduced by putting points into attributes.
Armor Strengths and Weaknesses
Quick guide to armor:
Light armor: Weakest to slashing damage. Strongest against bludgeoning.
Medium armor: Weakest to piercing damage. Strongest against slashing.
Heavy armor: Weakest to bludgeoning damage. Strongest against piercing.
All Armor provides some reduction to all types of damage, but each type of armor has a weakness.
Attributes and Damage Reduction Values
There are 3 attributes: Strength, Dexterity and Constitution.
Each point in strength reduces slashing damage received by .25.
Each point in constitution reduces bludgeoning damage received by .25.
Each point in dexterity reduces piercing damage received by .25.
Commmon build thresholds:
80 points in one attribute: 20 points of damage reduction
150 points in one attribute: 37.5 points of damage reduction
200 points in one attribute: 50 points of damage reduction
230 points in one attribute: 57.5 points of damage reduction
265 points in one attribute: 66.25 points of damage reduction
300 points in one attribute: 75 points of damage reduction
Note: Bleed is an effect, not a type of damage.
