There are 9 total guild provinces, located near the center of the map. There are 3 types of provinces: fort, castle, and stronghold. Guilds owning these provinces can use the '''freebuild system''' to design their castle as they see fit.

NPC workers gather raw materials throughout the day which are kept in Storehouses and may be gathered by anyone with the rank of Member or higher. Storehouses may be looted by enemies any time of day. Workers may be killed any time by enemy players which reduces their output. Keep workers well supplied and working to their fullest efficiency by keeping your [[Bastion System | Bastion]] needs met. Workers gather much slower during [[Nightlock]].

Provinces Overview

A guild owning its own province can use the freebuild system to design its castle as they see fit. See State of War for information on how to obtain a guild province.

Full guild island.jpg

Provinces have several benefits:

  • Generates income for the guild bank through crafting workshop fees.
  • +4 crafting workshops. Workshops are capped at +3 elsewhere besides the loot zone castle, which can also have +4 workshops.
  • Technology points generators, which are used for levelling up the guild technology.

Obtaining Guild Island Province

You have to buy a guild island via the guild panel [G] button. Move to the Diplomacy tab. To buy an island, the guild leader needs to have 10 gold in its pocket, and the guild needs to have a 10th level.

Freebuilding

Freebuilding gives guilds the freedom to build their castle as they see fit, and equip it with defensive mechanisms such as ballistas, and economic structures such as vendors and crafting stations. Each province has a buildable area and each province type has a specific budget for fortification and economic structures which cannot be exceeded, so guilds will need to spend their points wisely to achieve a defendable and usable castle layout on their buildable area.

Only the guild leader and vice leader may place or delete Freebuild structures, but all guild members can place materials into the building scaffolds and complete construction.

The freebuilding menu is accessed in the Provinces tab of the guild menu [G]. Upgrades to the initial structures and "Set to destruction" options are done on the Upgrade screen at the architect’s table.

Structures created with freebuild that are no longer needed can be Set for Destruction and destroyed with the batttering ram and any ballistas that can hit the structure. To retrieve a battering ram, you need to build the Siege Engines Workshop.

Make sure you keep the effects of Splash Damage in mind while building.

There are some rules to keep in mind:

  • It is not possible to build 2 towers or 2 gatehouses directly next to each other. A wall must separate them.
  • the Bastion buildings will take Splash Damage from walls and towers touching them when those walls and towers are destroyed. This means it is very dangerous to have your bastion building touched by these structures.
  • Gatehouses may not be built adjacent to bastion buildings.
  • If the guild owner enables destruction of "constructions" (usually they do this because they want to edit the freebuild layout), they can destroy any and all furnaces in the province area with a few weapon hits. Those materials inside the furnace or campfire are permanently lost. It is a good idea to inform guild members if rebuilds will be going on and to empty their constructions as soon as possible.

Set for Destruction

Freebuild objects can be destroyed if they are no longer wanted by visiting the architect’s table and selecting “Set for destruction.” Only the leader or vice leader may use this ability. An object set for destruction will take 10x the damage it usually takes, allowing players to remove it fairly quickly. Any player can then destroy the object using siege equipment like ballistas and rams.

Fortification Budget

Each guild province type has its own fortification budget which determines how many points can be spent on fortification structures including walls, gates, towers, ballistas, door bars, and oils. Strongholds have the highest fortification budgets.

Open the guild menu (G) and navigate to the Provinces tab to purchase Fortifications for the province.

Economic Budget

Each guild province type has its own Economic budget which determines how many points can be spent on economic amenities including vendors, crafting workshops, castle keepers, and markets. Castles have the highest economic budgets.

Press G and navigate to the Provinces tab to purchase economic items for the province.
