Heraldry is used to visually distinguish individuals and guilds.
Personal heraldry can be customized by pressing [I] and clicking on the large shield shaped area.
Guild Heraldry can only be created and edited by the guild leader. To edit guild heraldry, press [G] and then click on the Heraldry tab. Once finished, anyone in the guild can display their guild heraldry by selecting the option in the inventory screen. Heraldry shows up on siege equipment, shields, nation territories, and on the map on Guild Provinces.
Customizing Heraldry
There are 5 image layers and a basic background color. Each heraldry element can be layered, sized, colored, rotated, and repeated.
Heraldic Symbols
There is a basic selection of heraldry symbols available in game, and additional symbols are available on the supporter shop. Players can purchase individual symbols directly in the heraldry editor, or they can get randomized heraldry from Drowned Maidens Chests, also available on the Supporter shop. Heraldry symbols can be bought and sold on The Market.
If a guild changes leadership and the new owner does not own the heraldic symbols used in the guild crest, they will need to acquire them to continue using that specific symbol for the guild.
Layers
Elements at the top of the list are displayed behind elements at the bottom of the list.
Sizing
Use the [+] and [-] signs to resize elements. Combining sizing with repeating elements can lead to interesting patterns.
Coloring
the background of the image and each layer can be colored. Different heraldry symbols have between 1 and 4 areas to color. There are 154 heraldry colors available.
Rotating
Use the rounded arrow to rotate heraldry symbols. It is not possible to "mirror flip" a symbol.
Clamped and Repeating Shapes
Repeating shapes allows a player to take a shape such as the 2 stripes and repeat it indefinitely. Resizing the 2 stripes shape, for example, can create a series of many thin stripes
A clamped shape is one that when enlarged does not create additional copies of itself.
Reset
Clicking the "reset" button will reset your edits to what you started with when you opened the window.
Getting Heraldry to Show up for Others
You may need to unequip your shield and re-equip it after editing or changing heraldry for other players to see it when swapping between Personal and Guild Heraldry. If you prefer not to show your heraldry, you can choose to show a plain shield.
Appropriate Displays
Guilds and individuals need to take care when creating heraldry to ensure it conforms to the Rules of Conduct. Players should not create or display heraldry that is offensive or sexual in nature.
