Armour and Weapon

From Gloria Victis

Armour

Armour in Gloria Victis is divided into three types: Light, Medium, and Heavy. Each armour type provides resistance to three types of damage: Slashing, Piercing, and Blunt. Each armour type provides different resistance values to each type of damage. Also, each piece of armour and type has a different stamina drain multiplier and damage modifier.

Wear 4 pieces of one type of armour for the Armour Set Bonus which automatically increases all damage reduction values by 10%. There is no additional bonus for 5 or 6 pieces of armour.

TIP: In Gloria, players often mix and match different pieces of armor. A common practice for melee combatants is to wear four heavy pieces of armor (helmet, shoulder pads, gauntlets, and boots) and two medium pieces (chest, legs), with or without a light shield.

Weapons

A variety of weapons exists in Gloria Victis, and choosing the right one for the situation is important.

Weapons each deal specific types of damage when used in different directional attacks. Melee weapons come in various lengths, affecting their effective melee range and playstyle. For information on other damage effects such as bleeds, headshots, and backstabs, click here.

There are 3 damage types: piercing, slashing, bludgeoning.

A weapon type (swords, axes, daggers etc) shares the same directional modifier characteristics regardless of item quality or tier. Quality and tier affect overall damage only. So, all axes have the same characteristics, but different base damage, which is based on the tier of the item. A tier 5 axe will have a higher base damage than a tier 4 axe.

Item durability

Durability is the overall sturdiness of an item. Loss in durability reflects the wear and tear on armor, weapons, tools, and mounts. Higher tier items have higher starting maximum durability. Items lose durability each time they are used. Every attack, block or gathering action will reduce the durability of equipped items. Each death results in a 1% durability loss to all equipped gear. Items in bags and depot are not affected.

Items begin losing effectiveness in their statistics at 50% durability loss.

Item Quality and Reinforcing

Armours, weapons, and tools have quality modifiers which improve their stats slightly with each increase in quality level. Item quality ranges from +0 to +7. Players cannot choose which quality they will make when crafting, rather, the result will be determined by the following factors:

  • Mentor Points
  • Crafting chance bonus
  • Crafting level relative to the item being crafted
  • Workshop and Bastion level

In order to secure the best chance to make as high quality an item as possible, ensure that these factors are taken into consideration and pay close attention to the details about expected results in the upper part of the crafting window.

+7 quality can only be achieved by reinforcing an item, and the chance is always very low.

Reinforcing is used to improve items from +0 to +7 quality, and reinforcing is the only way to achieve +7 quality. Items cannot be crafted with +7 quality.

Renovation Kits

Renovation Kits give you the opportunity to restore the durability of an item. It is possible to repair an item to its full base durability with renovations. Renovations are an expensive way to repair equipment, and are usually best reserved for gear that is very high tier and high-quality.
