Resources are raw materials used for crafting and upgrading locations. They are mainly gathered at guild castles, holy temples, farms, mines, and lumber mills with tools including pickaxes, scythes, wood cutting axes, and shovels. Tools are made in the Engineering profession. Resources can also be found in the wilderness. All naturally occurring resources have a semi-randomized respawn timer, meaning that a mining node may reappear 25-45 minutes after being mined, rather than exactly 30 minutes after being mined, for example.

Specialties

Some locations have specialties, which means it offers a larger quantity of whatever item it specializes in. Specialties will be displayed as icons in the image area of the Resource card. The Resource Card shows what is available when the location is fully upgraded and the bastion is full. You may need to do some upgrading or provide the bastion with materials to get access to the materials the Resource Card displays.

Farms and Crops

Farms have flat land to grow crops, and beehives that produce honey and beeswax. Soil quality is important when choosing where to farm. Low quality soil is in non-loot zones near the capital, and top quality soil is found in more dangerous areas.

Farms are shared spaces. Plant your crops in an orderly way so others can fit theirs too!

There are two plants that cannot be grown:

  • Mistletoe - Looks like a green bundle of leaves hanging low on trees.
  • Saffron - Purchased from Food and Herb merchant for 5 silver, or gained from farm storehouses at guild provinces.

Mines and Ores

Mines are areas for collecting minerals and ores. Closer to the capital, one can find more common ores and minerals, while rarer ores are found at Holy Temples and Guild Provinces.

Upgrading mines increases the number of nodes available and the variety.

Veins

Veins are large deposits of minerals found at mines and more rarely in the wild. Veins will always be of the mine's specialty type. A vein has a very large overall yield, but a slow gathering time. Because of their large yield and the long gathering time, veins are best mined in groups. Veins have a very long respawn timer, and a bonus for gathering in a group of 5 or more.

Rare Resource veins yield a mix of quartz, tektite, siderite, calcite, and sulfur.

Gold Pickaxes

Gold pickaxes will occasionally appear on the map. These locations have a large amount of a randomized mineral, stone, or ore nodes and usually include at least 1 vein.

Lumbermills and Wood

Plank.jpg Lumbermills are for collecting and processing wood. There are 5 types of wood: Pine, Yew, Ash, Oak, and Elm. Wood type generally does not make a difference in weapon or armor crafting, but it does make a difference in upgrading structures, because only certain types of wood are accepted for each level of upgrade.

The level of the lumbermill affects how many wood nodes spawn as well as what type of wood. Generally Holy Temples and Guild Provinces have the highest number and highest quality wood.

Pine is typically used for billets, while Oak, Ash and Elm are used for higher level building upgrades. Yew is preferred for bows, but not required.

Be sure to check the Bastion as well as the upgrade level of the lumbermill before using it.

Butchering Animals

Animal carcasses can be butchered at the Tailoring and Leatherworking workshop. Carcasses will decay after 7 days so processing them is important. Butchering animals can yield bones, leather, meat, and suet. Not all animals drop all the materials. Butchering requires the Expanded Animals Butchering recipe book which can be purchased for 10 silver in the capital city from the leatherworking vendor.

Fishing

Fishing can be done actively or passively with a fishing rod. Fish traps can be placed in the world to collect fish passively. Fish are used for cooking and making oil.
