'''How long does it take to hit level 100?''' It depends on your playstyle, what activities you choose to do, and how much you play per day. A new player will probably spend 3 weeks or more leveling up if he plays a few hours a day, joining events and doing quests. Leveling can certainly be done much faster by players who know the game very well.

Beware that some events are designed for groups and are impossible to solo. Every action you do from farming crops to queueing up for 1v1 duels to siege events earns you character experience, so do what you like! Check out the [[Events]] page for some more details.

Level Progression refers to activities and events appropriate for different level ranges. This guide provides a rough idea of what can be done at different levels.

Leveling FAQ

What level should I start to PvP? After the tutorial quests, you should be around level 45, and you will receive invitations to PvP events such as the Valley of Death Tournament and non-loot sieges. These are low risk, high reward ways to try out PvP. At this point, you will be relatively lower level than many participants and you will still be learning the controls and flow of combat. The best answer is: Start purposefully engaging when you feel ready.

How can I get better at PvP? Queue up for 1v1 duels, do group skirmishes, visit the arena (icon is near the minimap) and spar with the 3 combat trainer NPCs, join lots of PvP events, and see if you can find some nice folks to mentor you; joining a guild can really help with this. Check out some Builds so you're more effective at filling a role in combat.

What is the max level? 100

What level do I get a mount? Any level! They are out in the wild ready for you to tame when you find one. Click here for a guide to mounts.

How many crafts can I level up? All of them!

How long does it take to hit level 100? It depends on your playstyle, what activities you choose to do, and how much you play per day. A new player will probably spend 3 weeks or more leveling up if he plays a few hours a day, joining events and doing quests. Leveling can certainly be done much faster by players who know the game very well.

How do I know where to go for my level? Check the guide below! Your quests will guide you until about level 65. After the quest chains end, events and sieges provide a lot of experience points, and these can be nearly anywhere on the map. The further you go from your capital, the more PvP you are likely to encounter. You can roam the entire map and do any events you can see on your map solo or with a group. Beware that some events are designed for groups and are impossible to solo. Every action you do from farming crops to queueing up for 1v1 duels to siege events earns you character experience, so do what you like! Check out the Events page for some more details.

Is there any way to earn extra XP? Yes. You can use potions, experience cards, and any nationwide buffs that increase XP. you also passively earn XP when members of your nation do something like capture a flag.

Can I avoid PvP entirely? It is technically possible, but it is extremely unlikely. Gloria Victis is an open world game centered around PvP and territory control.

Can I solo the whole game? While many players have mostly solo playing habits, an entirely solo experience is unlikely, and GV is a social game at its core. There are many group events and sieges which ask players of the same nation to work together in the same party. You can certainly roam the open world map and PvP or gather on your own, but the game does have ways of putting people together regularly.

Should I make a separate character for crafting? That isn't necessary at all. Crafting does not require any specific build or attributes and does not interfere with or change your combat at all. If you like to keep crafting materials all in one place on one character, it might be useful for that reason.

Leveling and Event access guide

To find these quests and events in game, check your map and the Events tab - the blue arrow underneath the minimap. Many of these events are simply "suggested" level and group sizes and can be done in other configurations or before you meet the minimum level requirement if you are with an experienced group. GV does not have much in the way of "requirements" to join raids/events, and does not require a certain number of specific builds like tanks/DPS/healers, as many games do. In GV, you run with whoever shows up!

Get familiar with Fast Travel and the Logistician so that you can get to and from events easily. People teleport frequently with the /unstuck and /capital commands as well.

Check the Parties page to learn more about how to join and form parties. Visit the Events page for more details about events.

Leveling Through Quests

  • Level 1-45: Tutorial quests (approx. 2-3 hours for a player somewhat familiar with MMORPGs)
  • 45-60: Additional nation specific story quest lines

World Event Access
These events can be viewed on the event calendar underneath the minimap. They have cooldowns or spawn at specific times, so check your Events tab underneath your minimap to see if the event is up and available.

World events are group events, and your experience at these events can vary wildly depending on how many of your nation members come to the event and how many enemy nation members come to these events.

Take these events even when you are significantly higher level than the minimum requirement. You will still get excellent rewards.

  • Level 15: Valley of Death Tournament (non-loot) - Always take this event. You'll have fun and learn a lot.
  • Level 20: Secrets of Ystad/Serai/Dundrum - (non-loot for the one by your capital city) Always take this event. It's a great way to get siege experience.
  • Level 30: Catacombs (loot enabled) - Take this event if you are going with a group of at least 5.
  • Level 40: Rite of Trinity, Rite of The One (loot enabled) - Take this event if your nation members indicate they are going to this event. You don't want to show up to this by yourself.
  • Level 60: Sea Wraiths (non-loot) - This is a 5 man party event. Once it's full, you cannot join.
  • Level 60: Volcano (loot enabled) - This is a 7 man party event. Once it's full, you cannot join.
  • Level 60: Brandon, Ragi, Sirius (loot enabled. Sword and skull icon on map.) - Take this event if your nation members indicate they are going to this event.

Other Group Events and Suggested Party Sizes
These appear on the map as 2 swords in a stone.

  • Level 45: Group events and quests with 3 or more members - Sorcerer's Tower, Wealthy Sorcerer's Tower, Black Sickle Sabotage, Sabotage Enemy Farm/Mine, The Cohort Strikes Back, The One Ring to Rule them All, Paper More Valuable Than Life

  • Level 60: Group events with 10-25 members - Temple of Doom, Pride Long Forgotten

These appear on the map as a sword in a stone. "Kill" events such as Kill Highlanders, Kill Lynxes, Kill Jagged, Outlumbered
