Damage effects are ways to modify damage that result in "critical" hits or damage over time.
Headshot A headshot causes increased damage when hitting an enemy in the head with an arrow fired from a bow. Headshots are not possible in melee combat or with siege weapons.
Backstab A backstab causes increased damage when hitting an enemy from behind in melee with any weapon. Backstabs are not possible in ranged combat or with siege weapons.
Bleed Bleeds cause damage over time and are caused by 1 handed swords and daggers. A sword's bleed effect is automatically applied with any stab attack at a rate of 2 damage per second for 10 seconds, and does not require any specific skill.
With the Marksman skill at 5/5, and doing strong (red) attacks, daggers have a bleed effect of 2.5 damage per second for 10 seconds. Daggers do not cause bleeding without the Marksman skill.
Bleeds are not possible with any other weapon.
Bleeds may be stopped with a bandage or mitigated with elixirs such as Rue Brew.
