Tamed horse

Overview

Wild horses may be tamed and ridden as mounts. Horses spawn in various locations throughout the map, and each nation has a few spawns near its capital city. Mounts come in a variety of body colors and mane colors.

They can also be effectively used in battle by allocating points in the cavalry skill tree.

Mounts gain XP while being ridden over distances and when used in mounted combat. When a mount levels up, it receives 5 attribute points which may be spent on its four unique attributes. A mount may be trained once every 22 hours at the stablemaster. Multiple horses may be stored in your stable.

  • Press T to summon your mount. To change which mount is active, visit the stablemaster. Only 1 mount may be active at a time.
  • Press E to get on and off your mount.
  • Press Y to view your mount’s attributes and statistics.

All mounts have the same maximum speed, and there is no way to increase the speed at which a mount runs. Mounts do not require being fed or cared for in any way. Mounts may be bought and sold at player stalls.

Mounts may be killed during gameplay. It will be sent to the stable and available to summon (T) after it has finished its cooldown. Mounts are not permanently harmed when killed.

Finding Horses

Horses can be found across dozens of spawn sites across the map. Each nation's Native Territory has a similar array of spawns and horse appearances that will show up in a given spawn area. Horses spawn in clusters of 2 to 3 animals, typically in grassland or beach areas. Horses have a respawn time of upwards of half an hour, so if several people are taming at the same time, fresh spawns may be scarce. Horses of similar color patterns and rarities spawn together. As with other resources, rarer colors may be found in more dangerous areas.

Taming

To tame a horse, simply walk up to it and press E. When tamed, the horse will display its ageing and level statistics and you will have the option to name it. If you do not wish to keep the horse, press the red X.

What makes a "good" horse? A low ageing percentage and a high maximum level.

A horse with 35% age and level 12/26 is makes for a pretty poor mount because it's maximum level is 26, which means it will only have 26 levels worth of attribute points to spend.

However, a horse with 9% ageing and level 15/76 is a much better horse with a lot of life left in it and a high maximum level, it will just take some training to fulfill its potential.

Horses can have a potential maximum level of 100.

When a horse is tamed, it must be given a name that is at least 5 letters long. Horses can be renamed by using the Mount Name Change card which can be purchased for 430 ambers on the Supporter Shop or with Contribution points at the Glory Quartermaster, or for gold on The Market.

Press Y to open the mount panel.

Riding

Mounts have two movement speeds: saunter and sprint. Sprint uses stamina, and a horse can regen stamina while sauntering. There is no way to increase a horse's movement speed. All horses go the same speed.

Mounts are automatically slowed when moving up and down steep inclines, uneven terrain and when bumping into objects such as trees, walls, and rocks.

Riders can be dismounted from their horse by ground or other mounted fighters who hit the rider with a stab from an angle up to 45 degrees in front of the rider. It is more difficult to dismount a heavily armoured player than a light armoured player. "Difficult" in this case means the angle you must hit the rider is reduced, so a heavily armored fighter must be hit squarely in the center of the body nearly head on to dismount him, but the lighter armoured fighter can be dismounted by a stab at the 45 degree angle.

The horse will be stopped and reared by stabbing the horse in the chest with a spear.

Horses are stopped and reared when hit with ballista shots.

Leveling a Mount

Mounts gain XP from being ridden over distances and from killing NPCs or players while riding the mount.

When the mount gains a level, it will receive 5 attribute points which can be spent at the Stablemaster. The mount can also be passively trained at the Stablemaster once every 22 hours for some coin. This gives the mount 1 level.

Generally it is easiest to level a mount when your character is specialized as cavalry. This is because the cavalry skills will give the horse much higher stamina and health and give the rider higher damage. This reduces downtime.

The daily challenge for mount rides does not give the horse extra XP, but it is an easy daily challenge to complete.

Mount Attributes

Mounts have 4 attributes which may be improved by spending the mount’s attribute points on them. The effects of these attributes can be modified with points in certain cavalry skills. Mount attributes work on the same diminishing returns system as character attributes.

Vitality determines the mount’s total health points and health regeneration.
Conditioning determines the mount’s total stamina and stamina regeneration. Stamina determines how long a mount can sprint.
Agility determines how tightly the mount can turn and change direction.
Dynamics determines how quickly the mount can accelerate and stop. It does not change the top speed of the mount. All mounts have the same top speed.

Other Statistics

Durability
Base value of 4,230. This value will not change until the mount hits 100% ageing. At that point, the mount will begin losing durability which will cause its attributes to degrade.
Ageing
Mounts age about 0.5% per day whether they are being ridden or stored in the stable with a maximum lifespan of 180 days (starting if you tame it at 0% ageing). There is no way to prevent ageing. At 100% ageing, the mount will being losing points in durability, which will cause its attributes to degrade.
Maximum Level
Mounts have a randomized fixed maximum level displayed when they are tamed, which can be between 1-100. A horse with a higher maximum level will have more points to spend on attributes overall.

Stablemaster

The stablemaster can be found near gatehouses along with with the logistician in any major city connected to the link system. Interact with the stablemaster to view your stable. Stables have 3 slots to store mounts, but more slots may be purchased. Each additional slot is 5 gold or 1 Mount Limit Increase card which costs 200 Ambers in the Supporter Shop. The stable is account-wide.

At the stable you can:

  • Change which mount is active.
  • Apply attribute points gained during leveling.
  • Train each mount once every 22 hours until it reaches its maximum level.
  • Purchase more stable slots.
  • Release mounts you no longer want.

Selling Mounts

Players can sell mounts by pressing f3 to open the Stall menu and creating a sell order for their horse. See Player Stalls for more information.

Mounts will continue ageing while in the stable and in the stall.

Mounted Combat

Melee cavalry and ranged cavalry are Builds that many players enjoy when they put points into cavalry abilities.

Mount Attribute Resets and Attribute Books

A Mount Attribute Reset will reset all the mount's attributes to 80 and allow you to reallocate points. These can be purchased with Contribution Points at the Glory Quartermaster or with Ambers on the Supporter Shop.

Mount Attribute Books have a moderate drop rate from Kargald Champions. Each book gives the mount 1 extra permanent attribute point. Each mount can use up to 20 attribute books.

Horses come in a variety of 11 body and 5 mane color combinations. Some varieties are shown below, but these images are not exhaustive.
