Mining is part of the Character Development system, accessed by pressing ' (quote).
Mining requires a Pickaxe and can be done in mines near forts, castles, holy temples, and guild castles. Mining can also be done anywhere in the open world as there are many nodes and veins scattered around, and also at Abandoned Mine events. These events require players to mine a small amount of material for a decent reward and XP.
Lower tier materials are common everywhere, but in especially high concentrations closer to the capital cities and along roads.
To mine, press E with a pickaxe equipped in front of a mineral node OR attack the node by swinging at it. Attacking the node uses stamina but is much faster. Pressing E is slower, but does not use any stamina. Only 1 person can press E on any node or vein at a time. Others mining must use attacks.
Hint - use a little of both methods of gathering: attack a mining node until you're out of stamina, then use E to mine and your stamina will regenerate while you continue mining without any interruption for regen. Also consider using some stamina regenerating potions or alcohols.
Mining Character Development
Progress vertically in the mining tree by using different pickaxes to unlock access to better pickaxes and different and rarer minerals.
Progress horizontally on the left side of the mining tree to reduce the pickaxe's durability loss and increase its mining attribute. Horizontal progression on the right increases overall yield of the minerals on each specific branch and reduces the amount of time it takes to complete a mining action when using E.
