Disassembly is part of the Character Development system and allows players to dismantle weapons and armor. Disassembling items yields materials, Experience, and a chance to learn the recipe of the item. Progression on this tree starts at the bottom, with disassembling gray, tier 1 items.
To disassemble an item, right click it and select "disassemble" or hold alt+left click.
Disassembly is Blocked if your disassembly level is not high enough. There will be text indicating if it's possible to learn the recipe or not. If, upon disassembly, you get a message that says "Critical Success" it means you have learned the recipe. You may need to relog to see this recipe in your crafting list.
Disassembly Progression
To begin Disassembling items, start with gray, Tier 1 items at the bottom of the tree. When that node is fully unlocked you can begin progressing on green, Tier 2 weapons and Tier 2 armor. Progressing the ranks horizontally after this point will yield more materials for each item disassembled, while progressing vertically allows the disassembly of higher tier items.
- Higher durability items return more salvaged resources than low durability.
- Higher quality items return more salvaged resources than low quality.
- The only way to get 100% material salvage return is by disassembling full durability +7 gear. Otherwise, there will be some material loss.
- Disassembly provides SIGNIFICANT XP towards crafting. Disassembling armour gives Armoursmithing XP, disassembling weapons gives Weapon Forging XP, etc.
Other Notes
- Learning a recipe from disassembling the item is a chance based activity. High level crafting and 500 or so Mentor Points will significantly boost your chances to learn a recipe. Even with high crafting and mentor points, don't expect to get the recipe without disassembling many of the item you wish to learn.
- The primary resources salvaged are various fabric, leather, and metal scraps that can be reconstituted into fabric canvases and metal bars.
- Critical success while disassembling yields 10x as much XP and guarantees you will learn the recipe of the item if you don't have it yet. Critical success may still happen after you have learned the recipe.
