Overview
The bastion system displays each location’s level of supplies as well as its current needs. The bastion system can be accessed at the architect’s table in the bastion building of every location with a capturable flag.
Over time, every location's bastion requires supplies to meet their needs. If they are not resupplied, the bastion’s efficiency will fall, resulting in weaker guards, loss of valuable NPC vendors, and downgraded crafting stations. Keeping needs fulfilled allows the whole location to work at a higher efficiency.
Placing items into the bastion to fulfill needs will reward experience and crafting experience.
Bastions can be a good place to use crafted items as an alternative to selling or disassembling them. Keeping bastions at a high level of efficiency helps your nation’s war effort by keeping your fortifications strong and giving players good quality crafting and gathering locations.
EFFICIENCY
Efficiency is the measure of the effectiveness and condition of a location’s amenities, and it is measured by a score of 1 to 3, with 3 being the highest. A location with low efficiency will have high need. Its guards will be weakened and crafting stations will work at a lower level until those needs are met. Efficiency may only be improved when the location is not under siege. Improve the location’s efficiency by fulfilling needs.
It can be helpful to think of efficiency as "prosperity" because efficiency is a measure of how well off a location is and what condition its citizens, guards and crafting stations are in.
Efficiency automatically degrades over time as the location "uses" it's provisions. Front line locations efficiency is reduced more quickly than other locations.
Having a low efficiency means that your crafting stations will not work at their current upgraded level. For example, a +3 Tailoring and Leatherworking workbench at a location with an efficiency of 2 will only work as a +2 station instead of +3. If you want to get it back to +3, fill the bastion until the efficiency reaches level 3.
Needs
Over time, bastions drain their supplies which causes their efficiency to drop and generates need. Drops in efficiency makes guards weaker and downgrades crafting stations. Every bastion has a unique set of needs which must be fulfilled. Front line locations have noticeably faster depletion rates of supplies than other locations. Keep your front lines well supplied! There are 4 needs: armaments, tools, food, and morale. Each location will have a minimum of 2 needs.
- ARMAMENTS - Providing weapons and armour of the requested quality or higher fulfills the armaments need.
- TOOLS - Providing tools such as pickaxes, woodcutting axes, scythes and shovels of the requested quality or higher fulfills the tools need.
- FOOD - Providing food and meals fulfills the food need. Higher quality food will have a greater effect than lower quality food.
- MORALE - Providing alcohol or completing specific events denoted with a green triangle

near the location will increase morale.
As the bastion's needs are met, it will require higher level supplies and better quality food to satisfy its needs. At first, a bastion with level 1 Efficiency will take any tier of equipment including gray. But as the bastion reaches Efficiency level 2 or 3, it will require green and finally blue tier items. Putting in higher tier materials than required significantly positively affects the bastion. The bastion will happily take low durability items, so when your items are worn down, consider putting them in the bastion.
