Smelting and Roasting is part of the Character Development panel, and is accessed by pressing ['] (Quote). To progress in the Smelting and Roasting tree vertically, produce any material using the campfire to begin, and work your way up from there. For campfire, you can also roast meat and cook simple meals. Horizontal progress provides speed boosts to smelting each item.

  • Campfire Lowest temp, suitable for heating simple meals and creating quicklime and iron lumps.
  • Bloomery Low temp, suitable for creating chamottes, iron lumps and steel.
  • Furnace Medium temp, suitable for creating quartz glass, steel and dziwer.
  • Metallurgic Furnace High temp, suitable for creating dziwer and bulat.

  • All 4 of these workstations may be built and running simultaneously once unlocked, allowing for multiplied production.


Fuel

A bloomery built in a non-loot Smelting District, creating Iron Lumps.

Fuel is required to heat any campfire or furnace. There are three primary fuels: Billets, charcoal, and coal. Each fuel burns at different maximum temperatures. Any crafted item requiring heat must be cooked at at least its minimum temperature. Some items like iron lumps can be created by simply heating billets, while some items like Bulat require hotter burning coal.

Smelting and Roasting Districts

In most nation locations and all capital cities, a Smelting District can be found. It is a flat fenced off area where smelting workstations can be placed. Placing a campfire, bloomery, furnace or metallurgic furnace in this area will grant speed production bonuses depending on the location.

  • Guilds owning Guild Provinces may place Smelting Districts for some Economic Points.
  • Workstations placed in loot enabled areas can be 100% emptied by an invading enemy nation force.
  • Workstations are not lootable by anyone in your nation.
  • Speed production bonuses are higher in loot enabled areas.
  • Speed production bonuses are highest in loot enabled areas inside a Smelting District.
  • Smelting districts do not need to be leveled up or improved with the bastion.

Smelting Districts in Guild Provinces

Guild leaders and vice leaders can use the Build Menu at their Guild Provinces to add a Smelting and Roasting District. These will have the 150% speed bonus because they will be placed in loot enabled areas.

  • Smelting districts can clip with other buildings and structures, but the smelting district must be placed BEFORE the building.
  • Any objects placed here can be destroyed by the guild leader. If destroyed, the objects inside the furnaces are lost permanently.
  • If the guild leader wants to move the smelting district during a castle rebuild and anyone's furnaces are present, they should communicate that furnaces need to be emptied so that castle construction can take place.
  • Players are advised to always empty their furnaces when not in use, and especially before a State of War at their castle.
