There are 3 types of damage: piercing, slashing, and bludgeoning. Each weapon performs different types of damage based on how it is used and from which direction it is swung.

The 3 Damage Reduction modifiers on the character statistics screen are derived from a combination of currently equipped armor and Strength, Consitution, and Dexterity values.

How attributes affect damage reduction:

  • Each point in Strength reduces slashing damage by .25.
  • Each point in Constitution reduces bludgeoning damage by .25.
  • Each point in Dexterity reduces piercing damage by .25.

How armor affects damage reduction:

Each piece of armor has some damage reduction for all 3 types of damage.

The skill Man of Steel provides an additional 15% bonus to damage reductions for heavy armor wearers when it is at level 10.

Armor Set Bonus

Damage reduction values are automatically increased by 10% for wearing 4 pieces of any one type of armor. So it is usually best to wear at least 4 pieces of one type. Additionally, heavy armor wearers can put points in the skill Man of Steel ability for another 10% bonus in damage reduction values.
