Crafting is the heart of the player-run economy. Raw materials are used in items, armor, and weapons which lose durability as they are used, requiring them to be replaced eventually. Foods, crops, and other consumables decay naturally over time, so crafters and gatherers are always in demand.

Players can level up as many crafting and gathering skills as they wish on one character.

Forestry and Farming - Grow crops, catch fish, and chop wood

Cooking and Herbalism - Cook meals, create powerful potions, and brew beer

Tailoring and Leatherworking - Make light and medium armor

Engineering - Make tools and building materials

Mining and Metallurgy - Mine and refine ores and minerals

Armoursmithing - Create medium and heavy armours and shields

Weapon Forging - Create melee and ranged weapons

Artificing - Unused

Although it is possible to craft anywhere by pressing C, it is always recommended to use a crafting workshop because it will produce better results.

Recipes

Components, weapons, armor, tools, building materials, and food can be crafted after learning the recipe for the item. It is possible to learn any recipe at any time, even if you are below the level of the recipe. The item will not be craftable until the recipe's minimum level is reached, but this prevents recipes from clogging up inventory space. It is generally recommended that any player wishing to become a crafter learn all recipes they come across.

Recipes can be gained from NPC vendors, glory vendors and quartermasters, The Market, humanoid NPC enemies, chests, and as quest rewards.

All characters begin with a selection of recipes. However, additional Low level "starter" recipes are found on vendors of each profession in the capital cities of Baalhammon, Mereley and Dunfen. Cities further away will have different and higher level recipes. Some NPCs will not appear unless the bastion is at level 3 efficiency, so if a vendor is missing, check the bastion and upgrade it if necessary.

Some of the highest level recipes are available at the Glory Vendors and Quartermasters. These NPCs can be found the fort closest to the capital city, marked with a gold star on the map. These recipes are purchased with Contribution Points and require certain Glory level thresholds to unlock the right to purchase them. Some players buy these for Contribution Points and sell them on the market, so if you are short on Contribution, check The Market. The Champion's armor recipe sets are only available at the Glory vendor, and it does not drop anywhere else. It can be bought and sold on the market like any other recipe.

Other high level recipes drop from world events such as Ragi, Brandon, and Sirius.

Mass Production Recipes

Mass Production Recipes create 10x the amount of materials in the same amount of time as crafting 1. These are incredibly useful recipes that can be bought from the Glory Quartermaster for 3,000 Contribution Points and require level 5 Glory.

Mass Production Recipes:

  • Billets
  • Charcoal
  • Flax Canvas
  • Thin Tanned Leather
  • Flour
  • Flax Threads
  • Flax Canvas

Workshops

Crafting workshops are labeled by profession and can be found within the walls of nation controlled territories and resource gathering areas like farms, mines and lumber mills. These can go to +3 quality.

Every crafting recipe has a preferred workshop, displayed at the top of the crafting menu. Using the correct workshop will always yield vastly better results and more crafting experience than using the wrong one or not using one at all.

Crafting workshops and locations:

  • Tailoring and Leatherworking - Temples, Castles, and Forts
  • Armorsmithing - Temples, Castles, and Forts
  • Weapon Forging - Temples, Castles, and Forts
  • Cooking and Alchemy - Inns inside temples, castles, and forts
  • Metallurgist - Mines
  • Engineering - Lumber Mills
  • Villager - Farms

Guild provinces have the capability to build +4 workshops and build some of them wherever they choose. Crafting at the highest quality workshop possible is always the best choice because it will yield higher quality results.

The workshop's level is determined by its current upgrade level and the location's Bastion efficiency level. Both of these can be improved at the Architect's table inside the Bastion building. Low Bastion efficiency will cause the workshop to temporarily downgrade until is improved.

Any player may upgrade a crafting workshop or fill the bastion to improve the level of the crafting workshops.

Crafting Chance

Crafting chance is a variable that determines the quality range of crafting results. At a crafting workshop, the crafting chance for each quality level (+0 to +6) is displayed in the upper right hand corner.

Crafting chance is calculated by the following factors:

  • The crafting level of the item being made
  • Your crafting level
  • The crafting workshop level
  • The Bastion efficiency level
  • Your mentor points
  • Your nation’s Deadly Harvest Crafting Chance bonus
  • The Territory bonus
  • Any consumable items affecting crafting chance such as cards or alchemy items.

Making sure as many of these variables are as high as possible before crafting will yield the best results. Remember that guild provinces have the best crafting workshops.

Component pieces such as nails, leather straps, hide glue, and billets benefit from being made at the proper workshop and taking into consideration all the crafting factors because it will result in crafting larger amounts of these items.

Crafting chance goes down as the quality level goes up, meaning there is always a higher chance to make a +4 than a +5, for example.

Crafting chance at 100% indicates you have surpassed the possibility to make that quality and your base result will be above that. So, look for the first non-100% marker as an indicator of the range of possibilities. Aside from a guarantee of not crafting low tier items, there is no way to guarantee specific quality results.

Workstations

Workstations are crafted placeable objects that allow players to process materials over time. While a player is "locked" to a traditional workshop, the workstation allows players to drop materials in and leave for a while to attend to other things.

Workstations all require fuel and production requires certain temperature thresholds to be maintained.

Workstations:

  • Campfire - Cook simple foods
  • Bloomery - Create lumps and steel
  • Furnace - Create steel and dziwer
  • Metallurgic furnace - Create dziwer and bulat
