Resources are raw materials used for crafting and upgrading locations. They are mainly gathered at farms, mines, and lumber mills with tools including pickaxes, scythes, wood cutting axes, and shovels.

Crops

Each character can have 20 crops planted at any one time.

Seeds can be bought from the Cooking and Farming NPC. There is one in the capital city near the The Market. Harvesting wild herbs all over the map or wheat, flax, and barley near the capital will also yield seeds. Harvesting planted crops always yields seeds.

Once planted, growing crops are immune to all theft or harm for 2 hours unless that location's main flag is captured. After 2 hours anyone can take them.

To plant seeds, it is easiest to place the seeds and some water on your hotbar. Crops will automatically snap if placed near each other. Plant a group of 4 seeds, then immediately water them. Plants will sprout weeds and dry out after planting. Taking care of these problems gives Forestry and Farming experience and speeds up the growth very slightly. This additional watering and weeding are NOT necessary, and do not affect yield. Plants can be fertilized which speeds up their growth more significantly. Fertilizer is obtained naturally from the decay of perishable items.

Seeds can be planted anywhere on the map, and do not have to be planted at farms. However, the yield is very poor, and there is generally no reason to do so.

All crops are perishable, so processing them quickly is a good idea. Combining fresher items with items about to expire in inventory averages their expiration rates.

Most crops grow in less than a half hour.

Crops are harvested with a scythe, a tool made by Engineers.

Mines and Ores

Mines are areas for collecting minerals and ores. Closer to the capital, one can find more common ores and minerals, while rarer ores are found at Holy Temples and Guild Provinces.

Upgrading mines increases the number of ore nodes available and the variety of ores available.

Mines also have a metallurgist's workshop where smelting can be done. Be careful when smelting at locations in the open world; consider using furnaces instead.

Be sure to check the Bastion as well as the upgrade level of the mine before using it.

Lumbermills and Wood

Lumbermills are for collecting and processing wood. There are 5 types of wood: Pine, Yew, Ash, Oak, and Elm. Wood type generally does not make a difference in weapon or armor crafting, but it does make a difference in upgrading structures, because only certain types of wood are accepted for each level of upgrade.

The level of the lumber mill affects how many wood nodes spawn as well as what type of wood. Generally Holy Temples and Guild Provinces have the highest number and highest quality wood.

Pine is typically used for billets, while Ash, Oak and Elm are used for higher level building upgrades. Yew is preferred for bows, but not required.

Be sure to check the Bastion as well as the upgrade level of the lumber mill before using it.
